Titanium Ring

Titanium was discovered in 1791, when Reverend William Gregor, a British amateur scientist, analyzed some black magnetic sand (menachanite) from Cornwall. He found a residue he couldn't identify and thought it might be a new metal. In 1795 Martin Klaproth an Austrian chemist, verified that Gregor had in fact discovered a new element. Klaproth named the element "titanium", after the Titans, the first sons of the earth in Greek mythology.

Titanium has a very high corrosion resistance, this is due to the ability of the material to, when scratched or machined, form a protective oxidised surface almost instantaneously - unlike gold or aluminium for example, which oxidises (or tarnishes) slowly over a period of time.

Deep sea divers and surfers like Titanium rings particularly because of this high corrosion resistance to salt water we even came across a mention of swim shorts made from Titanium fabric which provide a degree of protection from shark bites but cannot confirm the existance of such.

If you're looking for the right ring, there are always lots of different styles to choose from. You may opt for something chunky or slender, elaborate or simple; you may choose from a range of different brightly colored jewels or you may prefer something plain. Most likely, you'll choose gold ring, silver ring or white gold ring for the body of the ring. But isn't that rather ordinary? In the end, don't most people have gold or silver rings? What are your options if you'd like to do something different?

With a titanium ring, you can make a truly unique statement. Even if you create your own design in gold or silver, the chances are that somebody else out there is already wearing it, simply because such rings are so common. Not so with a titanium ring. When you wear a titanium ring you'll find that people are intrigued by it. Everybody will want to know its history. Titanium ring is discreet and elegantly understated in tone, yet they are also eye catching. Many people have simply never seen anything quite like them before.

Titanium is a very smooth alloy as well. Due to this, titanium ring tend to be very comfortable and there is less chance of skin irritation. Also, there are some people who, due to an allergic reaction, can not wear gold jewelry at all. In the past the only option for them has been the far more costly platinum rings. Now titanium rings are a viable alternative for these people.

Titanium ring is also more durable than the traditional gold rings. Titanium becomes scratched less easily than gold and can stand up to more of the wear and tear that can result from a person wearing the ring all the time. This is especially true of the men’s rings as men tend to be much harder on their wedding rings than women are. Titanium is more resistive to heat and cold and extreme pressure than gold or platinum are. Think about it. Titanium is used in the space shuttle. It is an alloy that can take a beating.
